Died Today At Daughter's Home
Was Forced to Give Up Work a Week Ago Because of Illness---Funeral Monday
Death summoned a widely known Bellevue resident this morning in the person of Frank Volz, Sr. whose death occurred at the home of a daughter, Mrs. B.M. Brinster, East Main Street, at the age of 78 years, 4 months and 9 days. The funeral will be held Monday morning from ... Catholic church, Rev. F.A. Terwoord officiating. Internment will be in the Catholic cemetery.
The death of Mr. Volz removed from the business district a familiar figure. Born in Seehoff, Hessendarmstadt, Germany, July 10, 1842, the deceased came to this country with his mother at the age of nine years and located in Sandusky. Following the death of his mother, he came to Bellevue at the age of fifteen years and has been a resident here since then.
He was united in marriage here March 25, 1860 to Miss Josephine Eichhorn, who died April 28, 1900. To the union were born nine children, one of whom died in infancy, and one son, Joseph, died six years ago. 5 sons and 2 daughters surviving, namely: William, of Buffalo, N.Y.: Anthony, Bellevue; Frank and Peter, Toledo; Otto, Clyde; Mrs. B. M. Brinster, Bellevue, and Mrs. L.A. Rospert, of Toledo. Two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Heider, of Bellevue, and Mrs. Katherine Hughes, of Adrian, Mich., a brother, Casper Volz, of Sandusky, and eleven grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Volz during the long residence in Bellevue was among the widely known citizens and a man of industrious habits, having plied his trade of shoemaker until confined to the home and bed by illness during the past week.
He was a life-long and devout member of the Catholic church. [5]
