Lorsch - Medieval Genealogy
In the Middle Ages, many individuals can be identified who were associated with Lorsch Abbey. For instance, Louis the German, the first "German" king, his son Louis the Younger (d. 882), and his grandson Hugo were buried here. The crypt church (ecclesia varia), built between 876 and 882, later served as the burial site for significant figures such as Kunigunde, the consort of Conrad I, the first non-Carolingian king on the German throne (d. after 915). The abbey's records also contain the names of abbots and monks. Biographical and genealogical data for some of these individuals are available in the database.
