Notizen
Kate Gößwein, daughter of Johann Adam Gößwein and Elizabeth Barbara Rotter, was born in Wilmersbach, Germany, in 1842, and emigrated to the United States in April 1861. Kate traveled steerage on the steamship Bavaria, from Hamburg, Germany to the port of New York.
Kate moved to Cincinnati, where she married George Graff in 1864. They had six children: Andrew (1864-1943), George (1864-1875), Elisabeth (1868-1868), Anna (1870-1953), Emma (1873-1963), and Lena (1875-1952).
After George's death in October 1874, Kate married again, to Herman Ludwig, in Cincinnati, on 22 April 1875. Kate and Herman had one son, Lyell Jacob Ludwig, born 28 March 1879.
They moved briefly to Owensboro, Kentucky, then on to Evansville, Indiana, where they were living by 1881.
After Herman's death in 1907, Kate lived in Evansville with her eldest son, Andrew Graff, above the grocery store at 1300 Virginia Avenue, which Andy owned and managed. [2]
